Sort Lines

Updated on:

Sort text lines alphabetically or numerically online.

How it works

1. Paste text. 2. Choose order and options. 3. Click Sort.

Advantages

A-Z and Z-A sorting. Numeric support. Trim and remove empty lines. Free.

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. Numeric vs alphabetical sorting: in alphabetical order, "9" comes after "10" because "9" > "1". Use numeric sorting for numbers.
  2. Locale and accented characters: "à" might be sorted differently depending on the language. Verify the result is correct for your language.
  3. Lines with leading spaces: leading spaces affect sorting. Use the trim option if you want to ignore them.
  4. Uppercase and lowercase: in ASCII sorting, all uppercase precede lowercase. "Z" comes before "a". Use the case-insensitive option.
